2012 New Chrysler 200 Convertible

Written By nyit on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 | 8:27 PM

New Chrysler 200 Convertible is not a bad looking car, the Chrysler 200 Convertible will be performing at New York Auto Show, and while the design of the conversion is not the creation of the most interesting, because the rear still looks a lot awkward. Besides the elimination of fixed roof, we expect the Chrysler 200 Convertible become largely the same as partners sedan, with improved interiors and engine options all brought. This means that both the 2.4-liter inline-four and 3.6-liter V6 Pentastar must underhood, and the end result is a car that, while better than the model it replaces.

Spada Codatronca Car Concept

Written By nyit on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 | 10:24 PM

Spada Codatronca was styled by the Italian design house Spadaconcept, a new design studio founded by Ercole Spada, and is built by another Italian company, UK Garage. With the Codatronca prototype, their goal is to revive the classic Italian sportscar concept, which mixes modern technology with tradition. Spada Codatronca concept is based off a Chevrolet Corvette chassis, with suspension-systems, engine and other mechanicals enhanced by the tuning shop, inspired by the 1965 Alfa Romeo TZ1. The Coda Tronca that means „truncated tail” in Italian, will be unveiled at the upcoming show in Monaco on April 24.

Spada Codatronca Spadaconcept focused more on aerodynamics, lightness and handling, but still this car has a great acceleration and speed. The base model, Codatronca TS, has a claimed top speed of 330 km/h and sprints from 0 to 100 km in 3.2 seconds. A lighter-weight (1380kg) and more powerful (700hp) TSV track version will also be offered, with a top speed of 355 km/h and a incredible 2.7 second 0-100 km time.

Spada fits twin Rotrex superchargers, dual intercoolers, an eight-quart dry-sump lubrication system, titanium valves and connecting rods, sequential fuel injection and a boosted compression ratio of 11:1. All that nets an impressive 600 hp at 6,300 rpm and 790 Nm of torque at 4,600. The power is channeled through the rear wheels via a short-throw 6-speed manual. The lightweight aluminum spaceframe, fitted with a magnesium roof and composite engine cradle, shaves weight down to 1400 kg. Steering is power-assisted and speed-sensitive with a magnetic variable-effort rack-and-pinion setup, while stopping power is provided by 14-inch front and 13.4-inch rear vented and cross-drilled discs with 6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers with ABS, surrounded by monster 20-inch rims all around.

Spada Codatronca An unusual feature of the Spada Codatronca, apart from the amazing bodywork, is the digital readout positioned in the centre of the rear spine that displays the car’s current speed.

Car Concept with Bio-Electric Hybrid Technology by Paul Howse

Car Concept with Bio-Electric Hybrid Technology by Paul Howse

Luxury doesn’t have to mean
expense or extravagance. Moreover, in the fragility of 21st century
consumerism, exclusivity could go much further, where its perceptual value
increases over time and through an experience of the product. Just as classic
watches and historic cars develop a story and history over time, the owner of a
vehicle should feel this experience. A patination of material such as bronze,
that is hand-crafted or develops over time and is unique to each ownership
situation would bring a valid ‘local quality’ that could be argued as being
lost in today’s globalized world.

Technology was also an important
part of the project, in that being at the forefront of technology would allow
an entirely new, exclusive proportion of vehicle. By using bio-electric hybrid
technology in situated low down in the chassis, I was able to celebrate the
lack of an internal combustion engine and create an entirely new proportion of
vehicle. The use of cameras and projections on the interior allows for the
deletion of the traditional windscreen and allows the long, low, sculptural
bonnet to run up over into the roof, uninterrupted. Again, something only
exclusively possible with this car. I also wanted to emphasize the interior
element, to show that it is cradled in the structure, a precious entity much
like a Faberge egg. By suspending the interior in magnetic levitation it
further separates it from the technical elements of the car whilst providing a
truly serene ride quality.

As it is intended to be used only
on special occasions and cosseted, it will be kept in a specifically designed
building from which you can control the atmosphere the car is kept in and thus
control the patination, much like a cigar humidor. The building will be covered
in photo-voltaic solar panels and will be able to store up solar energy to be
used to power the car. If energy levels drop, then it will run off the national
grid, but otherwise it will be solely self-sufficient.

All of these factors should add
up to truly unique, exclusive ownership experience, while a creating a mystique
about the car, the like of which may not have been seen since the art deco
period.

Attractive Concept Cars

Written By nyit on Friday, November 19, 2010 | 8:27 AM

A concept car can also be known as show cars which demonstrate new futuristic design, technology, improved safety devices, and radical changes which are still under consideration whether to go for mainstream production. Concepts cars have amazing designs you probably see in sci-fi movies. It turns heads instantly if seen out in the road, but rarely seen because it is usually in a showcase display for innovation and amusement. Of course these concepts cars would not be cheap enough for the “Average Joe” income to purchase, but still extraordinary to lay eyes on. Many car manufacture companies have designed their own concept cars. Here are some neat looking concept cars,

powered concept vehicles

Honda Gold Wing Powered GRX

Honda GRX concept

When the corporate designers go to work on a motorcycle powered car you get a concept like this, the GRX, utilizing the 1500cc flat six originally used in the Gold Wing. This has been around for a while though Honda doesn't seem inclined to actually produce it. Nice looking concept, though.

Suzuki GSX-R/4

GSX-R/4

Here's one that Suzuki put together for the show circuit a couple of years ago, powered by the superb Hayabusa engine. It's 1400 pounds of sheer fun, at least it could be but it never went beyond the concept stage. It sits on 20 inch wheels and had all sorts of neat electronic wizardry. They could probably sell a ton of these if they ever produced them and breathless rumors to that effect continue to surface. We'll see, but don't count on it.

Aprilia Magnet

Aprilia Magnet

Another nice concept, this one from Aprilia. Power is from a 550cc version of their supermotard engine along with electric motors in the wheels, this is actually a hybrid because the V-twin can be shut off for total electric running.
