Maybachmaybach exelero maybach

A one-off custom-built Maybach was unveiled in May 2005 at the Tempodrom in Berlin. Commissioned by tyre company Fulda, the Exelero is a chopped-down two-seater coupe, though it's more than just a show car - in tests at the Nardo high-speed oval, the prototype reached a speed of 218.38mph, despite weighing over 2.66 tonnes. It is capable of acceleration from 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds.

The car's design was the result of a competition amongst students at the Pforzheim Polytechnic Department of Transport Design, which has worked on show vehicles for Fulda in the past. The design of 24-year-old Fredrik Burchhardt was chosen, and his work was co-ordinated with that of the Maybach design centre in Sindelfingen. The project, based on the Maybach 57 limousine, required a certain amount of re-engineering; the A-pillar and doors had to be shifted rearwards, and the steering column, pedals and gearshift all re-located. The standard 550bhp V12 engine was bored out to 5.9 litres, and tuned for 700bhp and over 738lb ft of torque. With final dimensions of 5890mm long, 2140mm wide and just 1390mm high, the car was kitted out with a full-spec interior, including leather, neoprene, aluminium and carbonfibre finishes.

Maybach says the car, built by Stola in Turin, is "a one-off vehicle created to showcase the new ultra-high performance Exelero tyre range from leading tyre manufacturer Fulda"; it's not the first time the two companies have teamed up, as back in 1938 Fulda demonstrated its tyres on a Maybach SW 38 limousine. There are, however, "no plans to produce the model in series", though it has been certified for on-road use.

Maybach 57 S Coupe by Xenatec to Debut in Geneva...but not at the Show

Written By nyit on Friday, February 25, 2011 | 11:59 AM

German coachbuilder Xenatec will bring the new Maybach 57 S-based coupe to Geneva for the car's first public appearance. Strangely enough, the place chosen for the reveal will not be the Geneva motor show at the Palexpo center, but a specially built pavilion in the gardens of “La Reserve” hotel on the banks of Lake Geneva. The company's decision might have something to do with Maybach being present at the show, but this has not been confirmed.

The car on display will be a customer-specified model, configured by Xenatec designer Fredrik Burchhardt and built exclusively for him. It has a special two-tone paintwork, with the matte finish being applied by hand in several layers to create a unique effect. The main colors are separated by a thin gray line, just like Maybach limousines.

To say that the interior of this bespoke coupe is exclusive would be an understatement: the upholstery is made of mid-brown buffalo hide combined with dark nappa leather, all hand-stitched. For the footwells, the owner specified Alcantara lining, while the headliner is finished in nappa leather. It all looks... very expensive, and it should given that the starting price for the world's longest coupe (5,73 meters) is set at €675,000 (US$929,000), before taxes.

Under the long bonnet sits the same 6.0-liter V12 engine from the Maybach 57 S, which develops 612-horsepower (603-bhp) and 1,000Nm (737 lb-ft of torque). Top speed is pegged at 275 km/h (171mph), while average fuel consumption is rated at 16.4 lt/100km (14.8 mpg).

2011 Audi A8 L arrives with 500-hp W12, seating for a king-maker

2011 Audi A8 L

Audi is pulling out its biggest gun yet for the Beijing Motor Show, and while the big news for the A8 L might be the 6.3-liter W12 and the sedan's longer wheelbase, it's the rear seat accommodations that have us frothing at the mouth.

Seriously, just look at it.

With an overall length of nearly 17 and a half feet, the A8 L is almost a half-foot longer than its standard sibling, with a wheelbase of 10.24 feet. Those extra inches are put to good effect, with an interior that's enough to make a Maybach look downright spartan.

Open the lengthened rear doors and occupants are greeted by acres of leather, a full-length center console and two power-adjustable, heated and ventilated seats that not only move fore and aft, but include adjustments for cushion depth, lumbar support and seat back angle. Ten remote-controlled air-bladders massage your cares away, and if the front passenger seat – with its power-adjustable folding ottoman – cramps your style, you can move it forward with the flick of a switch.

The standard four-zone automatic climate control is manipulated by no less than 25 adjustable motors, and the massive center tunnel contains everything from a folding table to a refrigerator. It's all first-class, from the ambient lighting to the Valonea leather, and when the time comes to put the laptop away, crank up the 1,400-watt, 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System and enjoy a movie on one of the two 10.2-inch LCD displays.

If you're ready to give your chauffeur a rest, take solace in the fact that the W12 puts out 500 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque through Audi's new eight-speed automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive. The result is a remarkably quick 4.9-second run to 60 and a electrically-limited top speed of 155 mph.

The W12 will be the standard engine at launch, with a few diesel and petrol-powered engines available further down the line. We'd expect pricing for the A8 L to be revealed shortly after its official debut later this month.

2011 Maybach 57S Coupe by Xenatec : Official and imposing

Written By nyit on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 | 10:36 AM

2011 Maybach 57S Coupe by Xenatec
Basically a Maybach 57S, which lost two rear doors that the flag is lowered to 9 cm, who is endowed with frameless doors but also a new front bumper to the sportier look, a new rear bumper with an integrated diffuser and two beautiful tailpipes which should allow the 612 hp V12 engine to breathe. In the end, side body there remains much in common with the bourgeois 4-door version as engineers Xenatec maybach and actually fell off the middle of 20 cm to facilitate access to rear seats.
This large cut of 5.70 m long rests on a new 20-inch alloy wheels (21 option) and gives a modern look by adopting LED daytime running the front but also in the light of taillights.

Of course like all Maybach, finish and equipment are royal and can of course be customized on request. Thus the body will not necessarily bicolor and may therefore decline in monochrome.

Under the hood, we find the 6.0 L V12 612 hp and 1000 Nm of torque with BVA5 but in a runaway because the coupe looks 275 km / h and shoots the 0-100km / h in just 5.0 seconds which is for a cut of about 2662 kg. It is rumored that upon request and finance, we could get the version of the engine 640 hp 6.0 L of the Zeppelin. Should the 612 horses would be a fair bit.

A coupe is a timely boost for Maybach in which we only speak when restyling of March and seems to fall asleep if there is nothing to shake the very brand of luxury Mercedes. This coupe will be produced in 100 copies and is intended primarily to markets in Asia, the Middle East and Russia, which does not we can order such a car in western Europe or the USA. Finally be aware that this cut is announced and costs, no real friend of 650,000 € HT is around € 777,500 Taxes on the French market. First deliveries later in the year 2011.
