F1 Cars Pictures
Many of you must be fascinated with the speed and thrill of formula one racing. F1 race started from 1950s when first world championship was held. Cars back then was running on 1.5 litres, 425 horsepower engine. But now specifications have changed drastically. These all specifications are controlled by FIA.
According to the rules laid by FIA, F1 cars have to settle with engines that produces 720 horsepower with 8 cylinders in 90 degree V-Setup angle. Engines are made from forged aluminum alloy which have same property as steel but is lighter in weight. Non-Ferro metals are also prohibited in engine material. Rules laid by FIA have changed with time. In 2009 their will be a new rule regarding the cost of engine to equalize its performance. FIA has also imposed engine freeze ban for the improvement of F1 race.
F1 cars are single seater, this means there is no room provided for more than one seat. Most of the F1 cars are made from same material and with same dimension. Only the engines manufacturers differ. Some of them are Toyota, Honda, Ferrari, BMW and Renault. Contract for tires also varies with season. In 2008 Bridgestone has the contract for tires. Apart from these rules car manufactures do have some freedom regarding aerodynamics, electronic and tires to increase car performance.
